Il sera la tête d’affiche du festival Ecrans britanniques & irlandais. Le réalisateur Jim Sheridan nous présentera son premier long métrage My Left Foot de 1989 sur la vie du peintre et écrivain paralytique Christy Brown avec Daniel Day-Lewis à 14h à Carré d’Art et Into the West (Le cheval venu de la mer) de 1992, mélange d’aventure, de fantastique et de mythologie irlandaise à 17h45 au Sémaphore.
Deux documentaires à ne pas rater à Carré d’Art :
– à 10h : Blue Carbon (Le super-pouvoir de la nature) (2023) sur les écosystèmes et habitats côtiers, avec la productrice Sarah MacDonald et le directeur de La Tour du Valat Jean Jalbert
– à 16h15 : Blood Sweat and Cheer (2023) sur l’équipe nationale galloise de cheerleading où quand supporter son pays devient un sport national, en collaboration avec le British Council et son programme « Defiant Documentaries ».
Et pour finir en beauté au Sémaphore à 20h45: I Swear (2025), le biopic de Kirk Jones sur l’activiste écossais John Davidson atteint du syndrome de la Tourette qui vient de remporter trois prix aux BAFTA 2026.

Irish director Jim Sheridan – the guest of honour of this year’s festival – will present his 1989 debut Oscar-winning feature film My Left Foot, about the life of paralysed painter and writer Christy Brown, starring Daniel Day-Lewis, at 2.00pm at the Carré d’Art, and Into the West (Le cheval venu de la mer) from 1992, a blend of adventure, fantasy and Irish mythology, at 5.45pm at the Sémaphore.
Meanwhile, don’t miss two fascinating documentaries at the Carré d’Art:
– 10.00am : Blue Carbon (The Superpower of Nature)(2023) on coastal ecosystems and habitats, with producer Sarah MacDonald and director of La Tour du Valat Jean Jalbert
– 4.15pm : Blood Sweat and Cheer (2023) about the Welsh national cheerleading team, where supporting your country becomes a national sport, in collaboration with the British Council as part of its Defiant Documentaries series.
And to finish on a high note: I Swear (2025), Kirk Jones’ biopic about Scottish Tourette’s activist John Davidson, which just won three awards at the 2026 BAFTAs.
